Meet Maegan
We have started featuring our trainers, instructors, and staff at Riverside Fitness.
Today we'd like to introduce you to Maegan Drewry. Maegan is certified in personal training and continuing education in physical therapy. Her goal is to empower and impact any age, lifestyle, or mindset; while making it fun and achievable.
Now let's learn more about Maegan!

Why did you become a personal trainer? What do you love most about the job?
I became a personal trainer to follow the footsteps of my past trainers. The empowering feeling after a workout is indescribable and life changing. We are not meant to do life alone; we need relationships, motivation, accountability, encouragement, and community! I love being creatively unique for anyone, any lifestyle, any level, and any environment. The ultimate goal is to always be the healthiest and best version of yourself, not anyone else's! I believe for immeasurably more, not just enough. Sometimes we just need that extra motivation, push, fun, accountability, and insight; I love speaking life into others and exceeding their goals!
Do you have a specialty or some other aspect of your education that you’re exceptional at?
I am finishing my education in Physical Therapy (and/or) Sports Exercise Science. Rehabilitation excites and drives me, to return back from an injury even stronger! Strength training and High Intensity is also my specialty, pushing our bodies even further then we can imagine. Personally, I stopped getting injured once I started strength training. Strength and High Intensity can be for any age, weight, gender, and level! It also requires the most motivation and dedication, I love giving encouragement and pushing others!
What is the biggest misconception about personal training, in your opinion?
I believe the biggest misconception in training is, working just as hard outside the gym! It took me a long time to realize this also. Retraining our entire lifestyle, sleep cycle, stress level, water intake, food intake, macronutrient levels, and more. This is so important! We have to have the dedication inside and outside the walls of the gym to meet our goals! I love working with busy work, school, kids, sports, and life schedules; to ensure their putting their health first. We can’t pour from an empty cup, we have to prepare and fill ourselves up each day!
What is the one statement you wish everyone would know about fitness?
“Fitness is not about being better than someone else...it’s about being better than your body yesterday!” The comparison trap compels us to have discontentment. Stop performing and start living on purpose! Our bodies are changing everyday, but so are you. Cultivate your new definition of “healthy”, not your body 10+ years ago or someone else’s. Let’s do the work, get the results, and empower ourselves more!
Time for some free advice. What is your top tip for any of the following: losing weight, staying in shape, improving ability, building muscle, etc.?
My “top tip” for any part of fitness is to be consistent! Be dedicated, organized, accountable, and determined. You have to want it, for yourself! Schedule your week in advance, be intentional and know what time you need to get in a workout. Prepare meals in advance if you have a busy day, do not settle! Always be adapting, challenging, transforming, and dedicating each day to yourself. No Pre-workout, caffeine, podcast, or book will leave you satisfied. “Let us run with perseverance for the race marked for us...so that you will not grow weary and lose heart!”
