Today we'd like to introduce you to Collin Sullivan. Collin is a NASM certified personal trainer. Collin is also a Strong First Girya (Kettlebell) 1 Instructor who can coach clients on performing a kettlebell swings, cleans, overhead presses, front squats, and snatches with the proper form.

Why did you become a personal trainer? What do you love most about the job?
When I was in high school my mother hired me a personal trainer because I was overweight and wanted to learn how to exercise. He taught me the basics of exercise, and the dramatic improvements I saw in my mood, fitness, and self esteem inspired me to become a personal trainer.
Watching my clients strength, fitness, and confidence grow as they train with me is my favorite part of being a trainer.
Do you have a specialty or some other aspect of your education that you’re exceptional at?
I specialize in functional kettlebell training. I pride myself on having attention to detail when I or my clients perform an exercise, and that it is being completed in a safe and effective manner.
What is the biggest misconception about personal training, in your opinion?
That personal training is only useful for someone that is unfamiliar with exercise. There are people that have been exercising for years or even decades that stand to benefit from professional instruction and programming. Our job as trainers is to provide clients with effective instruction and education.
What is the one statement you wish everyone would know about fitness?
Exercise is medicine.
Time for some free advice. What is your top tip for any of the following: losing weight, staying in shape, improving ability, building muscle, etc.?
For an exercise program to be effective it must be challenging and consistent. The best workout programs involve simple exercises, performed well, on a regular basis.
